When moving, changing schools, jobs, or any other ending, I always get nostalgic when I do something for the last time.
Cooking breakfast in this kitchen.
Sitting in this classroom.
Trimming these aisles.
But that only has meaning because it was part of my everyday life.
When was the last time I did it without thinking about it as something that will pass?
I like this idea because it sorts everyday events into two positive categories.
A) I think about it as something that will pass, giving meaning and enjoyment to trivial tasks.
B) I don’t think about it as something that will pass, making it special in its own way.
