I was out biking and listening to one of my favorite albums when suddenly my headphones said “battery low”.
I was annoyed that they were interrupting my music.
Then I got angry at myself for not remembering to charge them.
This has happened many times before, but this time I tried something different.
What if I listened with even more intensity, enjoying the music not despite it ending soon, but because of it.
Every track was better than ever.
Some tracks I skipped because I wanted to get to the classics.
Some I listened to with new ears and found new appreciation.
Halfway into one song the battery finally died, and I rode the rest of the way in silence.
What other gifts have I been afraid of?
